In the Spring of 2019, two hives of bees found a new home at the Blaine House. Nestled in front of the greenhouse and next to the blueberry patch, the bees made themselves right at home and produced over 100 pounds of honey in their first season! Along with the orchard and the large kitchen garden, the bees serve as a wonderful addition to our “urban homestead” that reflect days long gone by when so much of the Blaine House food was grown on site. They are our constant companions from early Spring until late Fall, providing sound, scent, and natural sweetness in the middle of downtown Augusta.
