The maintenance and preservation of the home and the grounds are performed and financed by different entities. The historical, interior collection is part of the Maine State Museum’s greater collection and it is under their conservatorship that those items are displayed here. The grounds and general upkeep of the home are part of the Blaine House Staff’s duties as well as the Bureau of General Service for the State of Maine. Private funds are solicited through the Friends of The Blaine House 501(c)3 to further preserve furnishings, garden maintenance & plantings and ephemera purchases as well as larger scale renovation projects.
